31 July 2013

Cold Play 2 got on the truck this morning, she has a new rider for the season! We are looking forward to this partnership. After her having a very short and local season last season it will be great to see her out and about! I will be able to tell you more in a few days.

It is with heavy hearts that we saw the passing of our beautiful foal Crysolite HSH at 11 weeks old in April. We chose not to have an autospy performed on her and so her death still remains a mystery. We still miss her to this day, she was beautiful and full of character. We have our other foal Echo still with us, she will turn grey and is a very laid back personality.

After the very sad passing of Crysolite we were able to put Acolade in work and she has been coming along well. She is gradually strengthening up with being young and having two foals. She is sensible and a pleasure to be around. We are looking forward to getting her out and about at some small shows in the very near future!

Rumours NZPH has just come back into work and is feeling good after having a break! VDub is the oldest of our home bred horses, he is 4 this season and we look forward to taking him out and about!

We will have  a new horse to compete this season, Emma Peel, bought of Josh Barker, bred by Goldengrove stud farm. She is very green but we think she will be a lot of fun! We hope to aim her towards the 5 year old classes. Emma will arrive later this week.

Astek Gyminski is being brought back into work slowly after being out with injury and having a foal. We are excited about her and are taking our time. She is also a very valuable broodmare so we have some decisions to make!

 20 April 2013

We have had the holsteiner classification tour here and were very happy with our horses. Cold Play 2 and Acolade were the highest scoring purebred mares and Cazette (Diva) was the highest scoring purebred filly and also went premium.

Princess Mini (Corofino II x Astek Gyminski) also scored premium and Cancion (Corofino II x Cold Play 2) scored very well for conformation and was just half a mark of going premium. It was her movement that let her down, she was a bit excited with all the happenings on the day and didn't move like she can, and this is a huge shame because, like her mum (Cold Play 2) Cancion can REALLY move.

20 March 2013

We are home from Horse of the Year and had a good show. Picture perfect weather and great jumping made it a fantastic week. Rumours NZPH jumped super, rider error cost her a couple of rails but she had 3 super double clear rounds, and the highlight was 4th in the 1.35m championship class. Only 3 horses went clear and another 3 had time faults. Rumour had 1 time fault! Really happy with her after only about 10 weeks back in the saddle and jumping time.

We have put a couple of young horses down the free jump lane and they were all very good. Caddon excelled, was his usual relaxed self and LOVES jumping!!

Caddon showing lots of scope down the free jump lane.

3 March 2013

We had a successful weekend at Ride the Rhythm. Kevin Hansen again demonstrated his ability to organise a first rate show with the friday night Grand Prix a success and jumping on grass under the high roof being a first time experience for everyone. We are excited to see the next Ride the Rhythm!

20 February 2013

Sorry for the delay in keeping the news up to date. It has been a very busy time with new foals arriving as well as our second daughter! Summer was born on the 21st September 2012 and is a delight! She is a happy horse show baby and is already used to sleeping in the horse truck!

Our first show started in the new year in Ashburton and it has been busy ever since! Rumours is jumping well and doesnt seem to have suffered for having a half season off competing. Our plan is to head to horse of the year show.

We have 2 new foals, one a chesnut filly foal out of Acolade by Clinton 1 was born on 14 January. We called her Crysolite HSH. She is a character and is often seen frollicking and squealing around the paddock!

12 September 2012

Well the showjumping season is almost about to start! We are looking forward to it but with the arrival of our second child it will be a much slower season than the previous one. Rumours NZPH will be the only horse out competing as two older mares (Astek Gyminski and Acolade) are in foal, and of our young horses the oldest is only three years old. However a lot of our excitement is in the new foals being born and after weaning the foals putting the mares under saddle.

Cold Play 2 has sustained a small injury and we hope that she will return to form for at least the second half of the season.

Our oldest youngstock V-Dub HSH has returned from the breakers and is now having a well deserved rest, he will be brought back into work after Christmas.

12 May 2012

Well winter is now upon us! After having a beautiful autumn, we have already had our first snow fall for the year! The horses are warm and cosy in their massive yards, or well rugged with lots of shelter and well fed however so they are doing well.

The showjumping season is well and truely over, with Rumours NZPH first equal in the 7 year old series! This was a huge accomplishment and shows her consistency throughout the season. It demonstrates her character, being brave, clean and quite fast in a jump off.  The decision was made to retain Rumours as she is an asset to the stud and is already a valuable broodmare when she retires from showjumping.

The winter doesnt mean things slow down to much though, with the young horses being handled and the rising 3 year olds being worked and put under saddle for the first time. There is quite a lot of mucking out to do - the price paid for the horses being inside, warm and dry.

19 December 2011

A vacancy has become available for an all around horse person! Must be able to work on their own and be capable of doing everything - you name it it will probably be part of the job! 18 December 2011

We have had some great results in competition with Rumours NZPH having wins and placings up to and including 1.40m and Cold Play getting placed up to 1.35m with Catherine Cameron, at only one show!  Amanda is riding her in small classes to get experience so she only gets a chance to shine when we go to the north island! Our thanks goes to Catherine for her willingness to ride her when the opportunity arises.

16 December 2011

Our mare Henrietta has had a gorgeous bay colt by Douglas VDL. Very leggy and alert he should be able to get off the ground!

23 November 2011

Cold Play's recipient mare foaled! This is our first embryo transfer foal and we are very excited with the results! A bay filly, she has the same dish and beautiful head that her mother does. She is absolutely exquisite! 'Santa' is a fabulous mum and taking great care of her baby.

30 August 2011

We have confirmation that we were successful in getting an embryo out of Gyminski. The recipient is due on the 3 March 2012. By the holsteiner stallion Corofino it should be a stunning foal.

11 August 2011

The newest and most exciting news is that there is going to be another addition to our imported brood mare camp! She is a gorgeous filly foal, has just recently been weaned and will arrive in New Zealand in early October. She is extremely well bred, by Cassini I out of a Contender mare. Her dam line consists of Cassini I - Contender - Landgraf I - Calypso I - Ramiro. She comes from stamm 776 and directly from one of the best parts of it, her grand dam is the dam of the super stallion and sire Lordanos! She is a very refined and elegant filly, her full sister was one of the top mares in the mare perfomance tests in holstein as a 3 year old and sold to Brazil for a considerable sum of money. We hope to breed from her and also hope that she will get out competing in the years to come.

10 August 2011

Well we have had our share of rain hail and snow! Hopefully that is the worst of the weather out of the way. We have been very grateful for our large undercover yards! Sorry for the delay in getting news to you, we have been having some trouble with our website, but hopefully that is all sorted now. Because of this I haven't put on our new yards. They are sheep yards converted with extra high sides, plywood, solid gates and straw/sawdust. The horses love it because they are big enough that if the weather is miserable for a few days in a row then they dont go out in it, they have enough room to move around, buck and play, and can stay tucked up warm and cosy inside. It also means that they stay off the paddocks!

           24 May 2011

Our first foal from our imported mares has arrived!! A stunning bay colt. He has a wee star and one white sock. He is the picture of perfection with lovely legs, topline and conformation. Acolade has done herself proud. He is out of our imported mare Acolade who is by Acodetto out of a Chambertin mare and by a young up and coming stallion in Germany Cassin. Cassin is by Cassini I who needs no introduction and has left numerous top class stallions such as Cumano and Eurocommerce Berlin. He has 26 State premium mares and 42 licensed stallion. More pictures will be posted as we get them

23rd March 2011

We are back from an exciting few weeks away competing. Unfortunately Astek Gyminski got a little jarred up and was unable to compete in the north island, but as we detoured via cambridge we are now hoping to get an embryo from her which would be very exciting as she is showing great promise over a fence and has the most awesome attitude and temperament.

Both Gyminski and Rumours jumped well at the National show jumping champs in canterbury and the 3 star the weekend after. Rumours jumped well at the horse of the year show, stepping up to the 1.25m classes after very limited show experience and doing it well.

15 February

Confirmation of an embryo from our import mare Cold Play 2! We are very excited about the embryo and if it is anything like its mother it will be absolutely super!

22nd December 2010

Acolade arrives at her new home at Hokonui Sport Horses! She is everything we had hoped for and more! Tall and athletic with outstanding conformation and temperament! She has settled in well and is a pleasure to work with. She is in foal to Cassin, and is due at the end of June, so we look forward to the arrival of our first purebred holsteiner foal!!

Rumours NZPH has arrived!!! Rumours is a 16.1hh mare bred at the NZPH stud in Hawkes Bay. She is by the top young stallion Jokus Latour who is by the phenomonel stallion Contender. She shows exciting scope and technique over a fence.  She has a lovely temperament and is very genuine.

Purchase of Holsteiner mare "Cold Play 2".  She competed up until 6 years of age (height of 1.30 - 1.35m), with excellent results in young horse classes. She is lovely modern type of mare, with awesome paces and movement which is to be expected with her family - same stamm as flemmingh and Littorio.

26th APRIL 2010

Purchase of Holsteiner mare "Acolade". We are very excited about her, she has huge potential, and we believe she will produce super stars! A lovely modern type of mare, from a 'shockingly high performance family.' She has a lovely disposition and super technique over a fence, knees up and very soft and open behind.

APRIL 2009

Purchase of the mare 'Astek Gyminski' by Gymnastic Star, out of Kinnordy Ghandia by Graf Landau, a full sister to KS Genoa, an international jumper for Australia. She shows outstanding ability in the free jump lane, has a lovely easy going temperament and can really move! A total complete package, she is one to watch for the future.
